Excellent B-Rad vs. Just Plain Bad

Two lunch excursions this week offered up the best and not so best of what Downtown Troy has to offer the lunchtime crowd.

First the Good:  B-Rad’s Bistro and Catering, at 1809 5th Street in Troy is great food at a great price.  Tasty, innovative entrees and sandwiches, daily specials, interesting and definitely-not-from-a-can soups provide a range of options to meet any level of hunger and bankroll.  Take out or eat in.  The service is fast, efficient and best of all, personal and friendly.  Check them out.  Tell them Average Joe sent you.

No such referral for Bruegger’s Bagels at 55 Congress Street, across from Sage Colleges…more like a warning.  I have nothing against chains, and at lunchtime, Bruegger’s fare is ok in a pinch.  But the staff…well, they make me wanna heave and leave.  It’s not just that they come off as uninterested in what they do, or that they seem incapable of making eye contact, or that they often shove your change at you like they are practiced with a shiv.  It is that they seem to actively dislike you for making them work.  Whatever the case, I shall refrain from doing so from now on.

  1. If you have a problem with Brueggers, then open your mouth to them, this is not the place to gripe about lack of personal service. Your beligerant attitude is not going to get you anywhere as long as you are throwing insults at our feet. next time, grab the manager and tell him your gripes, he has the power to make things happen. Personally, I absolutely love the place and have never seen the aforementioned problem that you state, and if I did, I would use my speaking capabilities and let them know.

    1. Average Joe has a perfect right to gripe on his blog. If you work at Brueggers, instead of slamming him, take advantage of the comments Average Joe made and create a more customer-friendly environment. I have experienced a deficit of friendliness at Brueggers, and that was over a year ago. Too bad management is not paying sufficient attention to correct the situation long before this.

  2. How can you be such a jerk off to allow some of the person to person attacks that I have seen in your blog? Don't you read what your responses are or are you just going to bury your head in the sand like an ostrich? I sometimes wonder if you are a real person without feelings or the personal touch. Relax, monitor and/or delete these personal ads.

  3. Upon reading the slam against Brueggers in Troy, I called the manager of the place and he gave me an attitude as if he didn't give a fuck. He didn't want to hear about how lousy his homies were giving the place a bad name and just stuck up for the fuckwads. End of story, they have lost my business forever with that kind of an attitude.

    1. Can't say as I blame you for your efforts. The manager should be relieved of his duties and replaced with someone that cares about the business. I am about to call the two owners in Vermont and let him know of the atrocities that are happening at this once fine eatery.
